Project Scope: This proposed building is to be
multifunctional, with a pleasing entry into a foyer with room for displays
two offices and a large (6,000+ square foot) Multi-Purpose room. The MPR will have full audio
visual capabilities, concrete floor, 12 x 12 rollup door to allow
for bringing in large farm equipment and animals. It will have a seating capacity of 400+
people. There will be storage for
tables and chairs ·

& T paid frontage fee to county.
City refused to accept capacity use fee for water sewer
connection. ·
Approval
of CD from A&T was given to Designer
06/30/07. Designer submitted project
to DOI 09/24/07. 10/18/07 DOI comments
on CD received 10/26/07. Designer will
meet with A&T by 02/9/08 to address DOI comments. ·
We
met with the designer 2-21-08 to review progress on developing design for
water/sewer connections with the city/county mains in the street. He is to report back by 2-25-08 for
approval to proceed and be ready with all paperwork
for the city/county for approval by 04-15-08. ·
We
now have to go through the City of Greensboro Total Review Commission (TRC)
because we will be attaching to the citys water main in the street. While TRC review is being
done by the City we will respond to all DOI questions. We are delaying
this until we are sure we can get bids and into construction within 6 months
of DOI final approval. ·
Designer
reported City would like to know if A&T Administration will
apply for annexation as declared previously. ·
Decision
made no annexation. ·
Meeting
held with the City to discuss TRC on 04/30/08. ·
Initial
soils testing work performed at the A & T University Park by a Soils
Scientists in January 2009. Report is
being evaluated before making a commitment to continue with requesting a Septic
System permit from the County and having system design completed to obtain
the permit ·

Scope: Barnes
Hall, the Universitys principal biology teaching facility, will be
extensively renovated to upgrade laboratory facilities, address current and
anticipated enrollment capacity needs, and meet fire safety codes and
Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. Advertise Date
was 10/21/07 ·
Bid
opening was 12/04/07. All alternates
except GC-D, GC-9, and MC-1 were accepted.
Apparent low bidder was Bar Construction Co. with a bid of $5,192,800. ·
Notice
to Proceed was issued 3/31/08; Actual work began on
4/4/08. ·
Final utility
equipment installed. All AHUs received
w/o 6/29/09 but 3 of the flush in wall units for the
Lobby would not fit correctly. These
units are being replaced; delivery date as of
10-/28/09 is received by 11/06/09. The
openings will be covered for inspection purposes and
the units will be installed when they are received. The remaining AHUs were
installed by 8/15/09 and ready for final inspection by SCO scheduled
11/09/09. ·
GC
has completed project cleanup on the all floors. ·
Relocation and
installation of equipment from Hines Hall will start 11/12/09 and be completed along with new equipment installation by 12/20/09. The installation of Security, Telephone and
Computer equipment and systems will be completed by
12/20/09. These systems will be
debugged and fully operational by 1/6/10. ·
Faculty and
Staff returning to Barnes Hall from Hines Hall will be relocated (including
furniture in storage) starting 11/12/09.
The relocation will be completed by 1/8/10.

lab to new sensory evaluation lab. The

Scope: This

facility has been in operation ever since September 2008. ·

Scope: The New General Academic Classroom Facility will provide a modern
educational facility that will meet the growing demand of higher education at
North Carolina Agricultural and ·
OC-25 was approved on 9/7/06 by
NC Department of Administration, advertised in August 2006, A/E firms interviewed
on 9/20/06. The Freelon Group was selected as A/E firm in December 2006.

The first program committee
meeting was held on 10/30/06and the programming was
completed on 03/09/07. ·
The project was
advertised on 3/8/09, pre-bid meeting was held on 3/19/09. Bids opened
on April 9, 2009, awarded to D. H. Griffin Construction on May 6 with the Notice
to Proceed on June 11th 2009. ·
The construction work is
progressing as scheduled. All footing and waterproofing of foundation
completed; utility work is 80% done; installation of CMU for the Utility Room
is completed; slab on grade on certain classroom is finished and steel
erection work is on-going. ·
Plumbing rough-in is 80% and
electrical rough-in is 30% done; ·
The whole project team
(architects/engineers/owner and the general contractor) are working
collaboratively as a team to ensure the success of this project ·

All
new windows have been installed and caulked, some
tile repairs around bathroom windows remain to be done. ·
The
electricity to the building is off while the new transformer is being installed.
DOI inspection of the new transformer is scheduled
for 01/09/08. ·
Removal
of existing handrails is in progress. ·
New
handrail installation has begun on the sixth floor. ·
Balcony
guardrail installation is complete.
Installation of stairwell handrails is incomplete. ·
Floor
tile installations are in progress. ·
Fire
alarm work is completed, with the exception of final
testing. ·
Final
above ceiling electrical inspection is completed for
floors 5 & 6 with the exception of exhaust fans. Floors 1 4 are in progress. ·
The
courtyard floor has been repoured and the ramps at
either end completed. ·
The final painting will be done by painters under the direction of the
University paint shop. ·
The
SCO final inspection was held on 6/4/08. The fire alarm system did not pass and it
will be necessary to have another SCO inspection. ·
The
issues with the emergency lighting and fire alarm system have been
resolved. Final inspection by SCO
performed on 07/30/08. The building
was accepted and we have beneficial occupancy. ·
Prior
to closing out the project, the emergency lights will have to be replaced and re-inspected by SCO. This is scheduled to be
done by10/24/08. ·
The
emergency lights were replaced, tested and accepted on
10/24/08. ·
This
project is in the closeout phase and will be closed
by the first quarter of 2009. |
